For thirty years, I was a nurse, and I gave my whole heart to it.

Every long weekend, my husband and I would drive up the coast to Parksville, and the moment the sea opened up beyond the trees, something in me would finally settle. The salt in the air, the slow mornings, the way strangers said hello like they'd known you for years. It always felt like coming home.

Nine years ago, after my final shift, a little boutique came up for lease just a short walk from Rathtrevor Beach.

My husband David looked at me across the kitchen table and didn't say a word. He didn't have to.

I'd spent thirty years helping people through their hardest days. Now I wanted to help women feel good on their ordinary ones.

So we took a leap. We moved to Parksville, and that same year I opened the doors of Sarah's Parksville for the very first time.

I still remember that first morning. The excitement, the nerves, that quiet little question of whether I'd made the right choice.

Looking back now, I know I did.

For nine wonderful years, this has been so much more than a shop. A place where women came in for a blouse and stayed for a cup of tea. Where friendships were made. Where I watched women look in the mirror and, sometimes, see themselves a little differently.

Now I'm sixty-five, and it's time to close this chapter. Not because something went wrong — because something went beautifully right, and I've lived long enough to know when a story has reached its natural ending.

This is my favourite sale.

Every piece I've ever chosen for this boutique was chosen with one woman in mind. The real woman, not the one on the hanger. The woman who has spent years caring for everyone else, who deserves to feel beautiful and confident, and who may have forgotten how lovely it feels to find something that makes her smile in the mirror.
